Racemate ("the App") is developed by Taras Lanchev. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your information.
Information We Collect
Racemate does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. The App does not require you to create an account or sign in.
Local Data Storage
The App stores the following data locally on your device to improve performance:
- Your favorite drivers
- Cached race schedules, standings, and driver statistics
- Your app preferences (e.g., whether you have seen the welcome screen)
This data is stored only on your device using local storage and is never transmitted to our servers.
Network Requests
The App connects to our servers solely to retrieve publicly available Formula 1 race data, standings, and driver statistics. These requests do not include any personally identifiable information.
Feedback
If you choose to send feedback through the App, it opens your device's default email client. We do not collect or store your email address or feedback within the App itself.
Third-Party Services
The App uses Supabase to host and deliver race data. Supabase may collect standard server logs (such as IP addresses) as part of normal infrastructure operations. Please refer to Supabase's privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy for details.
RaceMate in ChatGPT and other AI assistants
RaceMate is also available as an app in ChatGPT and other assistants that support the Model Context Protocol. When the assistant uses RaceMate to answer a question, it sends our server a request and we record:
- Which RaceMate tool was used and what it was asked to look up (for example a driver, team, race or season)
- Whether the lookup worked, how long it took, and which assistant made the request
- The language setting and approximate location (country, region and city) that the assistant passes along with the request
- An anonymised user identifier supplied by the assistant, which lets us count unique users without knowing who you are
We do not receive your name, email address or the rest of your conversation, and we do not ask the assistant for them. We use this information only to run the app, count how it is used, and find questions it cannot answer yet. It is stored in our own analytics system (self-hosted PostHog), is not sold or shared with anyone else, and is kept for up to 24 months. Our server also keeps standard logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
Links in RaceMate's answers carry tags that tell us a visit came from an AI assistant. To stop using the app, disconnect RaceMate in your assistant's settings. To ask about or delete data linked to your anonymised identifier, email us at the address below.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
